PRAYER – July 14, 2024. (2 Chronicles 7:14 on 7:14:2024)

Dear Father in heaven, in all history, there has been only one nation like America – founded by pilgrims seeking freedom to worship, dedicated to the proposition that we are created equal and endowed by Jesus, our Creator with certain unalienable rights:  One Nation Under God.

You have delivered us in war, prospered us in peace and raised up generations willing to offer the last full measure of their devotion and even their lives for the preservation of liberty at home and abroad.

We have been and once were a light for the world.  From our shores has gone the greatest missionary force in history, but now Lord, America has fallen into darkness, disobedience and indifference.   We have sinned; and we your people, Lord, humble ourselves, and pray and seek your face, and we want to repent and turn from our wicked ways.  Please forgive our sin and heal our land. (2 Chron 7:14) – (7-14-2024)

Give us leaders who understand the times and rely on your Truth so they may have the wisdom to know what is right and then give them the courage to do it. 

Give us justice and grace, mercy and truth.  Help us to know ‘common grace’ and embrace our humanity recognizing that you are a God who loves the world and you gave your one and only Son, Jesus, to sacrifice and lay down his own life so that anyone and everyone who will believe in you, can have life in this world and in the one to come.  We long to see the torch of liberty burn brightly again and we believe it can when it is inflamed by the goodness of your people.  Help us to love like you love.  Help us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.  Forgive us for the times we have trusted men or government.

As Daniel prayed (Daniel 9:18-19) “O my God, incline your ear and hear.  Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city that is called by your name.  For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy.  O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive.  O Lord, pay attention and act.  Delay not, for your own sake, O my God because your city (our Country) and your people are called by your name.”

 

Dear Lord, we pray, ‘revive us again.’  Your people want to rejoice in You Psalm 85:6. Help us to live a life of continual repentance so that we may live in Your presence. Revive Your people to call on Your name. Turn us toward You and away from our sin. Great Awakenings have miraculously happened in the past. Lord, bring us another one in our current day. Help us to be filled with the awe of Your amazing work and majesty. Help us to be broken and humble so You can restore us and rebuild us. Revive the courage of believers everywhere to share Your message of love. Bring the instruction and Truth of the Bible, the very Word of God, back into vogue. Create clean hearts that are washed by Your Living Water, Lord. Help us to step away from our filthiness and into the renewal of life with You for eternity.

May you God, bless America, but even more, may the whole world know of your great love!
