What are you living for? Today is the beginning of the rest of your life. However many years ago it was when you took your first breath, it is again a miracle that God has chosen to give you breath for yet another day.
I was reading today and this idea struck me: At some point I will breathe my last breath and die. Will I have lived my life the way God intended? Will my life have been ‘full’ of faithful and fruitful years? “Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and full of years Genesis 25:8”
This is what God the Lord says— the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out, who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it, who gives breath to its people, and life to those who walk on it: “I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness; I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness. Isaiah 42:5-8
God has breathed HIS BREATH and LIFE into us in order that we might freely give it away. We live and move and have our being because Jesus chose to breathe his life into us. He did not come to be served but to serve.
In the words of Muhammad Ali, “Service to others is the rent you pay here for your room here on earth.” Rent is still due if you are still breathing whether life treats you well or not.
Make the most of your days. They count for ETERNITY.
